ROLLING TONNEAU COVERS
Roll-up truck bed covers offer a diversity of benefits including versatility, durability, and protection. When opened, roll-up truck bed covers provide more access to your bed than any other bed cover because they sit compactly against the cab. A rolling truck bed cover will not block your truck’s rear cab window, allowing for unobstructed vision. Additionally, they provide mechanisms that allow the bed covers to lock into place for driving with the cover rolled up and open.
Roll-up bed covers are generally made of heavy-duty vinyl or aluminum slats (for premium covers). When closed, both will cover the full length of the truck bed on both sides and offer a low-profile design. Premium hard roll-up covers are stronger, providing more strength and security, but they come at a higher price-point than vinyl roll-up tonneau covers.
Vinyl rolling bed covers will operate with snaps or Velcro and take more time to open and close than their premium counterparts. The premium hard roll-up covers work on a track system and are very easy to operate.
Premium roll-up bed covers have been developed with newer truck models in mind, so there is not much availability for older trucks. Soft tonneau covers will be the preferred option for older model pickup trucks.
ONE PIECE SOLID BED COVERS
One-piece, hinging truck bed covers are light-weight and easy to remove when you need true full-bed access. Most one-piece truck lids come equipped with a secure locking system and an LED lighting system with a self-contained battery source. Factory paint options are often available to match the color of your truck.
Hard bed covers for trucks that utilize the hinge design are eye-catching and can blend flawlessly into the body of the pickup truck, giving it a refined look.
FOLDING BED COVERS
Folding and tri-fold tonneau covers fold up into multiple sections, allowing you to easily switch between keeping your truck bed covered, open, or partially covered. They're available in both hard and soft styles. Soft folding tonneau covers most often use vinyl covering over an aluminum frame, while hard folding truck tonneau covers are available in ABS, aluminum, or fiberglass.
Folding Truck Covers are lockable but easy to open, generally in seconds.Hard folding truck bed covers will be more durable than soft tonneau covers, but both will have more stability than a roll-up cover due to the additional framing that’s built into the bed cover. Tri-fold tonneau covers can also generally accommodate extra weight and cargo.
Folding truck covers are available in various price points but will generally be more expensive than a roll-up tonneau cover. Availability may be limited for older model pickup trucks.

What are the different materials that tonneau covers are made of?
Soft truck bed covers are made of either cloth or vinyl. Hard bed covers are generally made of hard plastic, fiberglass or aluminum.
Can I use a bed cover if my truck has a bedliner?
Absolutely! Most bed covers are designed to work with a BedRug or under the rail bedliner, but all will work with a spray-in liner. We recommend LINE-X as the spray-in bedliner companion for your truck bed cover.
Are tonneau covers waterproof?
Ultimately no truck bed cover is 100% waterproof. However, most of the bed covers we offer are excellent at keeping the bed dry. Although gaps at the tailgate and other areas of the bed can allow minimal water in, we will utilize special installation techniques to create the most watertight fit possible.
What are the different opening mechanisms available in truck bed covers?
Renegade Customs offers tonneau covers that provide 4 options for opening mechanisms:
∙ Hinged, roll-up, folding and retractable.Hinged covers open like a hood. If you frequently haul cargo that sticks out of the bed, the hinged cover is not for you. Consider a folding, roll-up or retractable cover.
∙ Roll-up bed covers, just as the name suggests, roll up to the cab of the truck.
∙ Folding tonneau covers consist of 3 or 4 panels that fold on top of each other as they open. If you consistently need 100% accessibility to your bed, a folding cover may not be for you. Consider a roll-up or retractable cover.
∙ Retractable bed covers slide into a canister installation at the cab and offer 100% accessibility. Manual and electric versions are available.
How much does a bed cover weigh?
Tonneau covers vary in size and material, thus weights vary accordingly. You can expect to add a minimum of 55 lbs. with a typical cover.
Do tonneau covers work with toolboxes?
There are options for covers that allow for toolboxes.
Will a bedcover work with headache racks?
As long as the headache rack is mounted appropriately for the specific tonneau cover, installation is possible.
Will a tonneau cover improve my gas mileage?
There is research that shows that gas mileage can improve when driving with a closed bed cover because airflow is blocked, lessening the drag and improving aerodynamics. Gas savings will be most noticeable for frequent drivers.
Are tonneau covers secure?
Determined thieves can find a way into most anything, but simply covering the bed puts your gear out of sight, which can reduce the threat of theft. Soft tonneau covers are the easiest to access through destruction, even when locked. Hard bed covers can’t be cut through but locking mechanisms can certainly be damaged by the most eager of thieves. If security is your top concern, consider a retractable cover with an electromagnetic lock.
