Generally, lifting your truck or Jeep is going to give you more ground clearance, whether for a better off-road experience or for installing those large tires you’ve been wanting .Lift kits serve two primary purposes – Style and Performance.

Style - Very few modifications make a “head-turning” statement like a lifted truck with giant tires! Performance – Whether your lifted vehicle is your daily driver or your off-road beast, there is a lift solution for you. Ask yourself how the vehicle will be primarily operated e.g. basic street driving, rock crawling, general purpose 4-wheeling, mud racing or open country treks. There are numerous factors to consider (including additional modifications/additional accessories that may be necessary, weight, highway performance, legality and handling) that need to be considered before deciding on the lift kit and we’ll be here to answer your questions along the way.

Body Lift Kit vs. Suspension Lift Kit
The body lift kit raises the vehicle body on a stock suspension system, while a suspension lift kit raises the vehicle body and frame by altering the height of the suspension components. Modern lift kits have incorporated simplicity through technology into their designs, bolting directly onto your stock suspension without any welding, chopping or fabricating required. Most coil spring lift systems generally maintain a factory-like ride quality. Lifted leaf spring equipped vehicles typically ride factory-like or slightly firmer than stock.

A leveling kit involves incorporating hardware to slightly raise the front end of the vehicle, so it matches the stock height on the rear end. While a lift kit is going to evenly lift your ride, a leveling kit is going to provide additional height solely to the front of the vehicle. A leveling kit can also give you a little more clearance for larger tires and wheels.  Leveling kits are vehicle-specific, and we’ll be happy to help you find the right kit for your ride!

Lowering kits modify a vehicle’s suspension system so that it sits lower to the ground. Drop kits are popular options among many enthusiasts for several reasons.  Cosmetically, they are “eye-catching”, especially when paired with the perfect tires and wheels! But there are other advantages to a lowered suspension.  Improved aerodynamics can be achieved with a lowered suspension and roll-over risk is reduced.  Some customers report that driving is more comfortable because the lower suspension adds stiffness to their drive.  There are some disadvantages to a lowered suspension, too.  Vehicles with lowered suspensions should refrain from being operated on rough roads or uneven surfaces and should be limited to smooth roads. The likeliness of bottoming out increases, uneven tire wear is a potential side-effect and lifting or towing are increasingly difficult.

All suspension components must be re-tightened after the first 500 miles and, as with any vehicle mechanisms, tightness should be checked periodically.  If you bought and had your suspension kit installed by Renegade Customs, we will be happy to tighten your suspension components at 500 miles at no charge to you, and thereafter, as needed.  Just call us to schedule your service.
